This guide details the process to join as a volunteer or collaborator in the MxOS Foundation, describing active workgroups and the first steps to make your first contribution.

How to get started?

Anyone interested in technological sovereignty and collective learning is welcome. No prior experience is needed to join.

  1. Join the community: The main meeting point for daily communication, coordination, and general organization is our Telegram group:

  2. Introduce yourself: Send a message in the group indicating your interest in participating and which topics or areas catch your attention the most.

Special Interest Groups (SIG)

To move forward in an organized manner, we structure our activities into workgroups focused according to their specialty:

  • Promotion: Dissemination of the vision and goals of MxOS to make the initiative known and attract new members.

Steps for your first contribution

Currently, due to the initial phase of the distribution, we are concentrating our efforts on structuring and consolidating the Documentation Project.

To start collaborating:

  1. Read the style guides: Review the general style guide of writing and RST format to ensure consistency.

  2. Explore pending tasks: Review the guides’ TODO list or consult the open issues in our repositories to choose a task.

  3. Translate content: If you wish, you can help maintain our multi-language portal by following the guidelines of the translation guide.
